Ellis Greenhouse and Nursery was first licensed as number 0000102 by the Maine Department of Agriculture in 1981. We had a small 800 square foot greenhouse that we used to raise mostly garden plants that were sold to local people in the spring. Over time we enlarged to 1,500 square feet and started to wholesale garden plants as well as many varieties of ornamentals. In 2007 we replaced the original two greenhouses with a new 36' by 96' house to bring our total to five greenhouses and 10,000 square feet. We have also expanded the area we service to a 100 mile radius of our operation in rural central Maine and our plant offering to many hundreds of varieties.
